The NCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournaments are right around the corner, with the top seeds and schedules now finalized. In the men’s tournament, the Connecticut Huskies, Purdue Boilermakers, North Carolina Tar Heels, and Houston Cougars have secured the top four seeds. Defending champions, the Connecticut Huskies, have clinched the overall No. 1 seed.
The action kicks off with the First Four play-in games on Tuesday and Wednesday, leading up to the full tournament starting on Thursday and Friday. Selection Sunday will confirm the final lineup of teams for March Madness, with a total of 68 teams competing. Thirty-two teams earned automatic qualification, while the selection committee chose 36 at-large bids.
Following Selection Sunday, fans will have two days to fill out their brackets before the tournament begins. The men’s tournament schedule includes the First Four on March 19-20, First round on March 21-22, Second round on March 23-24, Sweet 16 on March 28-29, Elite Eight on March 30-31, Final Four on April 6, and the Championship game on April 8.
On the women’s side, the tournament schedule features the First Four on March 20-21, First round on March 22-23, Second round on March 24-25, Sweet 16 on March 29-30, Elite Eight on March 31-April 1, Final Four on April 5, and the Championship game on April 7.
Several players are generating buzz as ones to watch in the tournament. Caitlin Clark, who has broken records in college basketball, is projected to be the No. 1 pick in the upcoming WNBA draft. Angel Reese helped lead LSU to its first women’s college basketball title last year, while Reed Sheppard of Kentucky is a top NBA prospect.
