Google Unveils New Feature for Chrome on iOS, Allowing Users to Move Address Bar to Bottom
Tech giant Google has brought a new feature to its Chrome browser on iOS, allowing users to relocate the address bar from the top to the bottom of their screens. The feature aims to make it more convenient for users to access the address bar with their thumbs, similar to the functionality found in Safari and Opera on mobile devices.
This innovative feature, which has been highly anticipated, was initially discovered by Steve Moser, a contributing writer for MacRumors, in August. Moser stumbled upon the feature while testing the TestFlight version of Chrome for iOS.
Moving the address bar is a simple process. Users just need to long press on the URL bar and select the option “Move address bar to bottom” from the menu that appears. Alternatively, the feature can also be accessed from the Settings menu for users who prefer that method.
Although this update brings much excitement to iOS users, it remains unclear whether the feature will be available for Android devices as well. It is worth noting that Google had previously experimented with a Chrome Home interface back in 2019, which also placed the URL bar at the bottom. However, this particular design did not progress beyond its experimental phase.
With this latest feature, Google aims to enhance the browsing experience for iOS users by allowing them to access the browser’s address bar more conveniently. By introducing this functionality, Google hopes to provide a user-friendly and efficient interface for iOS Chrome users.
For more information and to try out this new feature, iOS users can download the latest version of Chrome from the App Store. Stay tuned for updates on whether Google plans to extend this feature to Android users in the near future.
