Elon Musk’s AI Startup xAI to Release Highly Anticipated Model
Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence startup, xAI, is gearing up to release its first AI model this weekend. Set to be unveiled to a select group on Saturday, the release marks a significant milestone for the company. The model’s launch comes nearly a year after OpenAI’s ChatGPT gained widespread popularity, leading to a surge in the adoption of generative AI technology.
Having co-founded OpenAI in 2015, Musk stepped down from the company’s board in 2018. Now, with xAI, he aims to revolutionize the AI landscape once again. Musk claims that xAI’s new model is the best currently available, promising groundbreaking advancements in AI capabilities.
However, xAI’s Grok system will initially only be accessible to subscribers of the X Premium+ tier. X, formerly known as Twitter, recently introduced new subscription plans, including the Premium+ tier, priced at $16 per month. Once out of its early beta phase, the Grok system will be made available to all X Premium+ subscribers.
Part of Musk’s ambition with xAI is to develop a maximum truth-seeking AI that can rival the likes of Google’s Bard and Microsoft’s Bing AI. This aligns with his criticism of Big Tech’s AI efforts and perceived censorship. By pushing the boundaries of AI technology, Musk aims to provide an alternative to the dominant players in the industry.
To achieve this goal, xAI has assembled a talented team comprising individuals from Google’s DeepMind, Windows, and other prominent AI research firms. Although xAI and X are separate companies, they work closely together. In fact, xAI also collaborates with Musk’s electric vehicle company, Tesla, and other industry giants.
Moreover, Larry Ellison, co-founder of Oracle, recently revealed that xAI has signed a contract to train its AI model on Oracle’s cloud. This partnership with Oracle’s cloud infrastructure further solidifies xAI’s commitment to harnessing cutting-edge technologies and resources.
As xAI’s first AI model prepares to make its grand entrance, the anticipation continues to grow. Tech enthusiasts and AI enthusiasts alike eagerly await the launch, hopeful that it will usher in a new era of AI capabilities and drive innovation in the industry.
