The Detroit Lions Unveil New Uniforms Inspired by 1990s Look with a Modern Twist
The Detroit Lions have partnered with Nike’s design team to create new uniforms that pay homage to their 1990s aesthetic while incorporating a fresh, modern touch. The design of the uniforms was influenced by the reintroduction of the Ford Bronco SUV after a 25-year hiatus, with hints of the iconic Ford Mustang also woven into the look.
The new primary home and away jerseys showcase a sleek black alternate design, complete with a revamped blue helmet featuring the team’s current logo on the side. The away jerseys can be paired with white tops and either blue or white pants, complemented by the primary helmet design.
In a nod to their longtime owner William Clay Ford, the uniforms feature a special patch on the helmet and an exclusive autograph on the inside of the neck. Team president Rod Wood expressed his enthusiasm for the new era of Lions football, emphasizing the blend of traditional elements with a forward-looking vision.
Fans can expect to see the Lions don their throwback look for the annual Thanksgiving game, while also having the option to pair the new black alternates with either blue or black pants. The shared heritage between Ford and the Lions in Detroit is reflected in the uniform design, striking a balance between modernization and honoring the team’s past.
