Clayton Anderson, husband of former Kansas City Chiefs cheerleader Krystal Anderson, is speaking out about losing his wife to sepsis shortly after delivering a stillborn daughter. This tragic loss marks the second stillbirth for the couple, following a previous one in 2022.
Krystal, 40, passed away days after giving birth to her daughter, Charlotte Willow, at just five months into her pregnancy. The high-risk nature of her pregnancy and complications from sepsis ultimately led to her death.
Clayton is pointing fingers at the medical system, accusing it of failing to protect his wife and address the needs of expectant mothers, particularly black women in their early 40s. He remembers his wife as his everything, emphasizing the preventable nature of her death from sepsis.
The hospital where Krystal was cared for, AdventHealth Shawnee, did not provide specifics about her treatment but offered prayers and support to the grieving family. Clayton vividly recalls the heartbreaking chain of events that led to Krystal’s passing, including complications from sepsis and multiple organ failure.
Despite the tragedy, Clayton is determined to carry on Krystal’s legacy. He describes her as someone who would want to be remembered for her laughter and to champion causes with joy. The couple’s story serves as a reminder of the importance of proper medical care and support for pregnant women, especially those in high-risk categories.
