The Problem with Jon Stewart Cancelled on Apple TV+ due to Creative Differences
Jon Stewart recently disclosed that his show, The Problem with Jon Stewart, was cancelled on Apple TV+ due to creative differences, specifically related to guests and topics. According to Stewart, Apple prohibited the inclusion of Federal Trade Commission Chair Lina Khan as a guest on the show and steered away from addressing issues concerning artificial intelligence.
Reports suggest that disagreements over guests and topics, particularly China and AI, were key factors leading to the cancellation of the show last October. Stewart revealed in an interview that Apple restricted him from discussing certain topics that may cause trouble. Apple even asked him not to have Lina Khan on a podcast, despite her appearance on The Daily Show where she discussed the FTC’s efforts against corporate monopolies.
Khan, known for her criticism of Big Tech companies such as Amazon and Meta for their monopolistic practices, was reportedly a point of contention between Apple and Stewart. Additionally, Apple did not allow a segment on AI during an episode of The Daily Show featuring tech executives discussing the impact of AI on jobs.
Interestingly, Apple is expected to unveil generative AI features in iOS 18, which will be detailed during the annual developer conference in June. The clash between Apple and Stewart over AI-related content adds to the intrigue surrounding the cancellation of The Problem with Jon Stewart on Apple TV+.
