Apple’s highly anticipated iPad Pro launch may be facing delays due to supply issues with OLED panels, reports from Korea suggest. The tech giant had initially planned to use Samsung Display for 11-inch OLED panels and LG Display for 13-inch panels for the upcoming iPad Pro models.
However, poor yields from Samsung have forced Apple to shift some orders to LG Display, which is now expected to supply 60% of the panels. Fortunately, LG Display has met Apple’s quality control standards for smaller panels and has even invested in a new production line to meet the demand.
With an initial order of 8.5 million OLED panels from Korean suppliers, a decrease from previous projections, Apple is still determined to deliver top-notch quality with the new iPad Pro models. The devices will feature a tandem OLED structure for improved display quality, with Apple aiming for “unrivaled” quality.
The launch of the new iPad Pro models, as well as the new iPad Air models, is now expected in early May as Apple works on perfecting software and manufacturing techniques for the devices. The company’s dedication to quality and innovation remains unwavering despite the challenges faced in the supply chain.
