Russian officials have accused Ukraine and Western intelligence services of being involved in the deadly Moscow concert hall attack, which left several people dead and many injured. FSB chief Gen. Alexander Bortnikov claimed that the attack was orchestrated by Western intelligence services and Ukraine in order to create panic in Russian society. Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev also alleged that there is evidence pointing to Ukraine’s involvement in the atrocity.
Initially, four Tajikistan citizens were arrested in connection with the attack, with another four accused of aiding terrorism. However, ISIS-K claimed responsibility for the attack, contradicting Russian President Vladimir Putin’s attempt to link Ukraine to the incident. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy strongly rejected Putin’s claims, calling him and other officials “scums” for trying to involve Kyiv in the attack.
Zelenskyy accused Putin of exploiting the situation for personal gain and emphasized that terrorists must always be defeated. The ongoing dispute between the two nations has raised tensions even further, with both sides adamant in their accusations and denials. The investigation into the attack is still ongoing, but the conflicting narratives from Russian and Ukrainian officials have added a new layer of complexity to the already tragic event.
