Beloved Actor David Soul, Best Known for Starsky & Hutch, Passes Away at 80
We are saddened to report that actor David Soul, best known for his role as Detective Kenneth “Hutch” Hutchinson in the hit television series Starsky & Hutch, has passed away at the age of 80. His wife, Helen Snell, announced his death on Thursday, revealing that Soul died “after a valiant battle for life in the loving company of family.”
Starsky & Hutch aired from 1975 to 1979, captivating audiences with its thrilling crime-fighting storyline and the dynamic partnership between Soul’s character, Hutch, and Paul Michael Glaser’s character, David Starsky. The duo’s chemistry was so memorable that they even reprised their roles in the 2004 remake of the series.
Soul’s talent extended beyond Starsky & Hutch, as he also appeared in various other television shows and movies throughout his career. Some notable mentions include Here Come The Brides, Magnum Force, The Yellow Rose, and Salem’s Lot. In 2004, he became a British citizen and took part in several British television programmes.
Aside from his acting success, Soul had a diverse background. Before embarking on his acting career, he started as a folk singer and achieved moderate success performing in the US and Mexico. He even released four albums of soft rock ballads in the late 1970s, which went on to produce two number one singles in the UK.
