Greenland’s Mountain Glaciers and Ice Shelves Melting at Alarming Rate, Studies Reveal
According to two separate studies, Greenland’s mountain glaciers and floating ice shelves are melting at an alarming rate, presenting critical challenges for the region. The studies found that peripheral glaciers in Greenland, which are not directly connected to the larger ice sheet, have retreated twice as fast between 2000 and 2021 compared to the previous century.
These worrying findings were published in the journal Nature Climate Change and shed light on the increasing difficulties faced by glaciers in Greenland.
